Knockalla Fort
Refurbishment to create a modern home combined with careful conservation of the fort
A Napoleonic era Martello Tower and Fort that has been neglected for many years and disturbed by inappropriate development. The original barracks block is to be refurbished into a light, airy modern home with fabulous views over the Lough.
Bringing the fort back into use will ensure the conservation of the historic fabric for the long term. The proposal received planning permission in 2007 with the full support of the Department of the Environment and local government.
