BB successful on Warwickshire Police Framework

The practice has been selected to join an important public sector framework having been appointed to Warwickshire Police’s multi-disciplinary framework, which has already yielded two significant projects.

The framework has been procured by OJEU notice which has led to the practice needing to successfully compete against a large of number of other bidders. Building services engineers DSSR and QS’s Bridgewater and Coulton formed the other members of the successful multi-disciplinary consortium bid.

The news is further enhanced by winning the multi-million pound refurbishment of Stratford-upon-Avon Police Station together with the ongoing development work on the new Warwickshire Police headquarters, a major project to bring the force into the 21st Century.

Blackmore Park - Phase 1 Underway

We have just completed the first building on the Blackmore Business and Technology Park in Malvern. This new business park is the first phase of redevelopment of a former Second World War US Military Hospital and provides much needed employment use following on from the successful Malvern Hills Science Park that is more or less at capacity.

The business park aims to attract high-tech businesses, such as medical sciences, materials engineering and environmental technologies, to a rural setting with views of the Malvern Hills.

The development will use the latest environmentally friendly technologies, such as green roofs, rainwater harvesting, renewable energy and recycled materials, all within a landscaped environment.

Montpellier House Penthouses

After extensive preconsultation, Cheltenham Borough Council recently gave planning consent for penthouse apartments atop of Montpellier House. Regardless of the prominent location and sitting within a Conservation Area, the application was approved under delegated powers.

Montpellier House is a multi-storey block forming part of the original Eagle Star headquarters. The existing floors have in recent years been converted by BB into office suites. The recent consent provides for three new penthouse apartments accessed by their own private stair and lift together with a dedicated basement car park. The luxury apartments have extensive balcony areas that enjoy stunning views over Regency Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.

Public Exhibition of visionary proposals for redevelopment of the incinerator site at Haylers End

Of the five options we asked the public to consider, the most popular was the low-impact community, featuring a ‘live-work hub’, allotments, and other measures to reduce vehicle use. The proposal includes energy-efficient houses and will be potentially the first carbon neutral development in Worcestershire.

The moment the doors opened we were busy and it is very encouraging that, with a few exceptions, so many people took a positive approach and wanted to engage in our attempts to find a solution to the problem of the site. There were lots of questions and discussions on all sorts of issues for most of the five hours we were there.

Having worked through the main issues relating to the site over the last year we considered this was the right time to put the whole matter into the public domain, with the two-fold objective of explaining our thinking and getting views from the wider community before we moved to the next stage.

At the November Wyre Forest Planning meeting, the Committee unanimously voted in favour of Outline Planning Consent for a new 210-place sustainable primary school in the Green Belt.
