- A new build apartment block containing 10 two bed units.
- The site lies in a Conservation Area, and, being in an AONB, we needed to ensure that views of the Malvern Hills were not affected by the development. The proposal is contained within a restricted footprint is well screened, the objective of making good use of previously developed land is achieved with negligible impact on views
of the Hills and openness of the Conservation Area. It is a site specific solution to minimise landscape impact. Upper floors pull back to create a terracing effect and leaves a building that nestles into the hillside, and sits well in the naturally sloping context.
- We propose a palette of traditional materials, to blend in with other properties in the vicinity,
but used in a contemporary way which includes a turfed roof to blend in with the landscape.
- MHDC Panel of Architects responses to the Scheme (May 2006)
- Nice scheme
Like the materials
Good siting within the site
Nice proportion of different materials
Nice use of stone
Sets a precedent for future development along the rear boundary
The amenity of future occupiers should be protected
The site has limited visibility onto it
Could benefit from a turf roof (implemented in final approval)
A good scheme well presented
